Statoil ASA (Statoil), incorporated on March 12, 1995, is an energy company. The Company is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production activities. The Company’s segments include Development and Production Norway (DPN), Development and Production International (DPI), Marketing, Midstream and Processing (MMP) and Other. DPN segment manages the Company’s upstream activities on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) and explores for and extracts crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. DPI segment manages the Company’s upstream activities that are not included in the DPN and Development and Production USA (DPUSA) business areas. MMP segment manages the Company’s marketing and trading activities related to oil products and natural gas, transportation, processing and manufacturing, and the development of oil and gas. Other segment includes activities in New Energy Solutions (NES), Technology, Projects and Drilling (TPD), Global Strategy and Business Development (GSB), and Corporate staffs and support functions.
Development and Production Norway

The Company’s DPN is engaged in field development and operations on the NCS, which includes the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. Its Statoil operated fields include Troll, The Asgard, Gullfaks, The Oseberg, Kvitebjorn and Visund. Its Partner-operated fields include Ormen Lange, Skarv, Goliat, Ekofisk, Marulk and Ivar Aasen. It holds exploration acreage and explores for new resources in all three regions on the NCS, the Norwegian Sea, the North Sea and the Barents Sea. As of December 31, 2016, the Company’s development projects on the NCS included Johan Sverdrup, Aasta Hansteen, Gina Krog, The Utgard, The Trestakk discovery, Oseberg Vestflanken 2, Gullfaks C, Byrding, Troll B gas module and Martin Linge.

Development and Production International

The Company’s DPI segment covers all development and production of oil and gas outside the NCS. Its DPUSA manages the Company’s upstream activities in the United States and Mexico. It is engaged in production in various countries, which include Americas, Africa and Eurasia. Its fields under development internationally include The Stampede, TVEX, The Big Foot, US Onshore, The Hebron field, Peregrino phase II, Mariner and Bressay.

Marketing, Midstream and Processing

MMP segment is engaged in marketing, trading, processing and transporting of crude oil and condensate, natural gas, NGL and refined products, including operation of Statoil operated refineries, terminals and processing plants. In addition, MMP is responsible for developing transportation solutions for natural gas, liquids and crude oil from Statoil assets, including pipelines, shipping, trucking and rail. The business activities are organized in the business clusters: Marketing and Trading, Asset Management and Processing and Manufacturing. The Marketing and Trading business cluster (MT) is responsible for the marketing, trading and transportation of all products from Statoil’s upstream, processing and refining business and for power and emissions trading. MMP is responsible for the sale of Statoil’s and the SDFI’s crude oil and NGL, in addition to commercial optimization of the refineries and terminals. MMP also markets equity volumes from DPI assets located in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Angola, Nigeria, Algeria, Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom, as well as third party volumes.

Other

The NES business area reflects Statoil’s aspirations to complement its oil and gas portfolio with profitable renewable energy and other low-carbon energy solutions. The GSB business area is Statoil’s functional center for strategy and business development. GSB is responsible for Statoil’s global strategy processes and identifies and delivers inorganic business development opportunities, including corporate mergers and acquisitions. The business area TPD is responsible for the development and execution of projects, well deliveries, procurement, research and technology in Statoil. Research and Technology (R&T) delivers technical expertise to projects, business developments and assets. Project Development (PRD) develops and executes all facility developments, modifications and field decommissioning. Drilling and Well (D&W) provides well deliveries and rig management, including expertise and support to drilling and well operations globally in Statoil. Procurement and Supplier Relations (PSR) manages the supply chain, conducts all procurements and provides management of contracts in accordance with business needs.
